50 years of independence of Tanganyika


Tanzania main land cerebrating 50 years of independent after a long way from 1961 to date. President of the United Republic of Tanzania Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete when addressing the publics at the nation stadium yesterday says
“We really deserve to celebrate because we are a country with people from over a hundred tribes of different color, religious, beliefs and political ideologies but speaking the same language”. kikwete said.
We have recorded a lot of successes but concerted efforts are needed to ensure peoples development in future.
He also said that while celebrating independence it was crucial to recognize the founders of the nation especially those who initiated the move towards the fight for independence.
He said the fight for uhuru was first initiated by leaders of the Tanganyika African Association. he said currently only three of them, Ali Sykes (Dar es salaam) Lameck Makaranga (Mwanza) and Cuthbert Oswald Milinga (Ruvuma) they are still alive.
He congratulates  army officers for showcasing the country military hard ware adding that what had been displayed was just part of it, ”it is not easy to bring every thing hear, but what you saw hear representing many of the tools that is not brought hear” kikwete said.
Kikwete said we have made development since we get independence 1961, the colonial government were left us with three tarmac roads at independence, named them as Moshi and Arusha,Tanga and Korogwe and Dar es salaam and Moshi.
Kikwete added that Tanzania was exceptional because of its ability to maintain unity, peace, and harmony despite the presence of 126 tribes. He said Tanzania has been able to protect their nation especially when Uganda’s Idd Amin invaded the country in 1978
